1st stage of Media

When I started this project of making the magazine, I had no idea what to do. My mind was blank and I didn't know where to start. So, by talking to a few people in my class and my teacher, I began to research different styles of magazines and analyse them. This included Front cover, Contents and Double Page Spread (DPS). After researching the magazines during a few lessons, I created a questionnaire to try and find out what the public expects from a magazine. My questionnaire involved questions like, how old are you? and what sort of music are you interested in? with answers such as Pop, Rock, Dance, Country etc. and at the end of the questionnaire i had different designs for my magazine title. I decided to produce a rock magazine and the title name was to be 'SPLINTA'. So, the audience choose on their favourite designs and which one they would like to see on the front cover of a magazine. I collected the results and created graphs for each every question. By then I was more confident with this project. Above is my design for my front cover. After I had designed my title, I used my boyfriend as my main study for my magazine. We took pictures in different lights, places, angles and clothes. For example, we took a few pictures in my bathroom against my wall tiles. The lighting worked really well through the window and this aloud his face to become more lighter, which worked well seeing as he had dark make up around his eyes. The shot is from the front, but with the tile affect behind him, it looks like I am above him taking the shot. After that, all I had to do was learn how to use a Mac!
